Thinking of buying the Storm2, this article might save you some money!

blackberrystorm2overviewRonen over at Berrryreview posted a very interesting article today regarding the Storm2. When the original Storm launched, I have to admit it was a bit of a nightmare for some users. Then Verizon and RIM finally pushed out the v.148 software upgrade to fix most of the issues, and, for all practical purposes, it did. The problem is that once something gets a bad rap and the media runs with it, it’s hard to change consumers’ minds, just ask the folks at Ford Motor Company.

I have personally been using the Storm for about a year now, and it actually works pretty well. It has survived a few close calls (missed the toilet by mere inches). And when I show people the features and things it does, they are generally impressed.

Here is the point.. The Storm2 at launch will be running the new BlackBerry OS 5.0 and may be a little pricey. The original Storm is upgradeable to the exactly the same 5.0 OS, and you could pick that up for a song, even on a 1 year contact (yes, Verizon will allow you to do a 1 year contact and you should be eligible to upgrade in about 10 months).   Both units will have Flick scrolling and tabs in the new updated internet web browsers. The wifi and the new touchscreen is great, but most of you who have wifi enabled BlackBerrys now never really use the feature that often. Plus don’t forget this is a 3G device.

So if you are looking to save a few bucks, and a 1 year contact might be attractive; consider the orginal Storm with a new OS upgrade.  If you would like to compare the two BlackBerrys, I have provided a link for you to do so below.

So what do you think? Storm2, or upgrade the original with a 1 year agreement.
