That’s it folks, yesterday was the last day to buy a smartphone on Verizon with a $175.00 cancellation fee. Starting today if you purchase what Verizon calls an advanced device (i.e., smartphones, PDAs, netbooks) it will cost you $350.00 bucks to break the contract. Now this is on a line by line basis, and it only effects the mobile number on your account that has the advanced device on it. Also the cancellation fee will be reduced by $10.00 every month that you are on the agreement. If you are one of those people who did not take insurance on a phone because you felt it was cheaper to cancel the contract, taking the insurance might be a good idea at this point.
