BlackBerry Tip: How to find your BlackBerry OS (Operating System) version on your device.
Â

There generally will always come a time when you need to know what version OS (Operating System) your BlackBerry is running. Some of the best reasons are that many BlackBerry applications (Apps) or BlackBerry Themes  require a certain OS version for you to run them on your device.  So here are a few simple ways for you to check what OS your BlackBerry is running.
Option 1: Go to Settings (on some older BlackBerrys) then Options (on other newer models you only need to go straight to Options) - then About: Look for something like v5.0.0.328 (Platform X.X.X.XXX) this number after the v is your OS number.
Option 2: Go to Messages (on all BlackBerry models) – Compose- SMS Text or Email- and in the message area type myver as one word, in lowercase, and hit the spacebar. You should see something like 9530/5.0.0.328which means 9530 is the model number of a BlackBerry Storm and 5.0.0.328 is the OS that it is running. Note: This will only work if your BlackBerry is set to English.
Option 3: This option works on BlackBerrys with QWERTY keyboards: 8300, 8800, 9000, 9500, 9600, 9700 series devices. Hold down the ALTkey and at the sametime type EACE - This should bring up the BlackBerry Help Screen and you should see something like v5.0.0.328 (Platform X.X.X.XXX) this number after the v is your OS number.
If you know other ways that we may have missed. Please feel free to post them in the comments sections.
