Update 1:56 PM EST: Email service seems to be coming back with most users reporting that emails are starting to arrive on all US based carriers.  If you have not started receiving emails as of yet. Try doing a battery pull to allow your device to talk to the network.

Update 1:03 PM EST: Reports are slowly coming in that some users are starting to receive mail service. One of the first reported carriers is T-Mobile.

Update: In a statement, RIM said customers “may be currently experiencing delays receiving email” but phone services and PIN-to-PIN messaging are working just fine. If offered no explanation for the service interruption, but said it engineers are doing all they can to resolve it.

It appears that RIM’s BIS ( BlackBerry Internet  Service) maybe suffering an outage for some users. BIS service manages mostly personal email and business users who get their emails via IMAP and POP3.  Users who are on corprate email exchange servers with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server seem to be unaffected at this time.  What is working? The good thing about BlackBerry is that there are so many other options to stay connected. Anything that uses your data plan is up: BlackBerry Messanger, Twitter Apps, FaceBook, etc.

For email, if you are a Gmail user for business or personal, download the Gmail Mail client.  This will push your Gmail accounts to your BlackBerry and the app supports more than one email address. Click here with your Blackberry web broswer to download the Gmail Mail Client for BlackBerry. As further updates come in we will advise you as soon as possible.  If you are not a Gmail user, you can still access email using your BlackBerry web browser by going directly to your email service providers’ website, i.e. MSN, Yahoo, AOL, etc.  Each provider has a mobile version of their email site.
