I’m sure there has been a time when you really wanted that green LED light to stop flashing. Today we will cover how to disable it, and what do the other additional colors mean. Let’s start off with what does the flashing green LED actually mean. The green LED is used to indicate the presence of signal coverage for the BlackBerry and the carrier service providing data and voice services.

Having the LED on would mean that there is coverage available. Now, this might be a welcome thing for some, however, for most people, it is enough to use the signal bar as an indicator for coverage. Plus, the constant blinking of this light can get a tad bit annoying. The green LED is used to indicate the presence of signal coverage for the BlackBerry and the carrier service providing data and voice services.

So, for those who wish to deactivate this LED, the succeeding procedure is for you. It is a fairly simply procedure and very easy to follow; and once done, does not require the user to redo the procedure if the device is powered off. It simply stays as is – deactivated.

To turn off the blinking Green LED Light, do the following:

  • Go to the Options Menu
  • Select the Screen or Keyboard option
  • Refer to the LED Coverage Indicator. This option is set to ‘On’ by default
  • Set it to ‘Off’
  • Save the changes made

This concludes the procedure on how to deactivate or turn off the blinking green LEDs.

For those who want to know here are a few notes on the different colored LEDs on the BlackBerry device. These LED (Light Emitting Diode) indicators blink in a variety of colors, providing different notifications:

  • Blinking Red. This indicates that there is an incoming communication or a waiting communication on the device (messages, e-mails, new calls, missed calls)
  • Blinking Green. This indicates the coverage, letting users know that they are connected to their network. To turn this off, go to the Options menu, select the Screen/Keyboard option, and set the LED Coverage indicator as off.
  • Blinking Blue. This indicates that the device is connected with another device via Bluetooth.
  • Blinking Yellow. This indicates that the device is low on power and should be plugged in to recharge.

Users have the option of deactivating any of these indicators as well; however, these other indicators signify important functions for the device, so choosing to turn them off might not be such a good idea.
