AT&T launches In-building 3G coverage device, get five bars BlackBerry service indoors.
Last month we reported that AT&T is expanding it’s test markets, where they were performing trials on their 3G MicroCell units. The AT&T 3G MicroCell acts like a mini cellular tower in your home or small business and is supposed to improve cellular signal performance for both voice calls and 3G data. The unit connects to the AT&T wireless network via your home or office broadband internet service to produce the improved coverage.
Beginning sometime in mid-April, AT&T 3G BlackBerry users will be able to purchase the AT&T 3G MicroCell unit for about $150. The user will then be able to connect the device to their home or business DSL or U-Verse line. The MicroCell service will cost AT&T wireless customers, on an individual or family plan, about $20 a month for unlimited calling and/ or data usage on the MicroCell. You can get additional rebates on the device depending on what type of service you choose.
