BlackBerry Tip: How To Quickly Lock Your BlackBerry Keypad or Touch Screen.
A few people have complained that after upgrading their BlackBerry Tour 9630 or the BlackBerry Curve 8530 to BlackBerry OS (Operating System) 5.0, they were no longer able to find the Keypad Lock Icon on the main screen. Today, we’re going to show you how to quickly lock your BlackBerry key pad without the the need to use the Keypad Lock Icon.
How to quickly lock the keypad on a full QWERTY keyboard BlackBerry.
To activate the Key Pad lock, just press and hold the letter A on your key pad for about a second. Your BlackBerry should go into sleep mode, and the key pad will be locked.
If you are using a BlackBerry Storm, Storm2, 8900, 9630, or 9700, just look on the left side of the top of the device. You will see a little gray lock, press it once to lock, press it again to unlock.
If you are using the BlackBerry 8530 or 8520, just hit the Pause key on top of the device to unlock.
If you are using the BlackBerry Bold 9000, Hit the * and Send key to unlock. This applies to older 8300 and 8800 series devices.
How to quickly lock your BlackBerry Screen on a Storm & Storm2 .
To lock a BlackBerry Storm, look on the left side of the top of the device. You will see a little gray lock, press it once to lock, press it again to unlock.
What if you have pandora installed on you 8530? I can lock it using the A* but when I unlock it, with the pause key on the top of the phone, pandora starts playing. Is there anyway around this without uninstalling pandora? I would like to keep it on my phone but I have to lock the keypad at work and it going off at work when I unlock it won't work.

Why did you have to change it. I was working just fine before. I and I am sure many other want the simple lock key back. I had it as my right convenience key and have been using that for 2 years to lock my phone and now I can’t. this is a dumb way.

In a 8520 curve, the keyboard is locked : first i must write the word “blackberry” and after the password, that i don’t know.
