RIM officially announced it’s latest addition to the BlackBerry Bold family; the BlackBerry 9650 for wireless carriers with CDMA wireless networks. This latest edition in the BlackBerry Bold series comes packed the all new BlackBerry touch trackpad, WiFi, and a beefy 512MB of memory onboard. The Bold 9650 so far touts the largest amount of on board memory ever released on a BlackBerry, and for many users that’s welcome news. Now for users of Apple devices, this does not seem like much, but what makes the difference is that BlackBerry’s on board memory is really for the core BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry Apps, with the average BlackBerry app being generally under 1MB. BlackBerry users generally store all their music, pictures, and videos on a removable MicroSD. The BlackBerry Bold 9650 is expected to come with a 2GB MicoSD card included, and can support a card up to 32GB. The Bold 9650 will launch with BlackBerry OS 5.0, but will be fully upgradeable to the soon to be released BlackBerry OS 6.0. Currently Sprint has announced that it will be launching the Bold 9650 on May 25th for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate. Verizon Wireless is rumored to be launching the unit on May 27th with pricing yet to be announced.
