Top 5 BlackBerry apps to help you Survive Memorial Day Weekend.
Yes it’s Memorial Day Weekend. And many of you will be hitting the road, beaches, and party after party. Today I thought I would offer some of the best BlackBerry Apps to help you get to where you are going, and find those essential things you need right on your trusty BlackBerry. Here are my top 5 picks:
1. Google Maps – What’s great? Google Maps is one of the best free mapping apps you can get for your BlackBerry. Most apps use Google maps to show you location or give you directions. You should install this first.
Editor’s Note: You will need to enable GPS for best results.
Go to Options > Advance Options > GPS. Select Data Source, change to Device GPS, Change GPS Services to Location On. For even better accuracy Enable Location Aiding. Keep in mind that GPS ON does drain your battery faster.

2. Poynt – What’s great? Use Poynt to find people, businesses, movie theatres, retailers, Banks, ATM’s, Gas Stations, and restaurants near you. Poynt uses GPS or cell-site locations to pinpoint you and quickly deliver the information you need whenever and wherever you need it. Find phone numbers and connect with one click, browse websites and map directions. Plan a night out – book movie tickets and dinner reservations, add it to your calendar and invite your friends. Add listings to your BlackBerry® Address Book, add movie and restaurant events to your BlackBerry® Calendar, share listings using BlackBerry® Messages
Editor Note: You will need to install Google Maps, or Verizon Navigator for the mapping aspect to work. Then go to options in the app and select which mapping software you are using.

3. Kayak – What’s great? Find airfares and hotel prices quickly, for free! Why pay for looking up airfares when Kayak gives it to you for nothing? Use KAYAK for changing your flight at the airport, or finding a hotel at the last minute. You can book online with the airline or hotel site of your choice, or you can simply press a button and your BlackBerry® will call and you can talk to a human. We even show hotels that you can’t book online: how many other travel sites do that? You can search many airline web sites at once, find the best airfares and flights for you. Then book where you want.
