3 Great BlackBerry apps that could save you from being stranded at the airport.
One of the worst feelings in the world for most travelers is the moment they realize that they are going to be stranded at the airport. Lately we have seen everything from volcano ash clouds to airline employee strikes causing thousands of travelers to be stranded with no help in sight. Today we have three great BlackBerry apps that might help you get out of a bad situation:
1. Google Maps – What’s so great? Google Maps is one of the best free mapping apps you can get for your BlackBerry. This app can come in handy in case you need to navigate your way to a hotel or travel to another airport; Google maps can show you location and give you directions. Also many BlackBerry apps use Google maps to locate your location and destination. You should install this first.

Go to Options > Advance Options > GPS. Select Data Source, change to Device GPS, Change GPS Services to Location On. For even better accuracy Enable Location Aiding. Â Keep in mind that GPS ON does drain your battery faster.

3. Kayak – What’s so great? Find airfares and hotel prices quickly, for free! Why pay for looking up airfares when Kayak gives it to you for nothing? Use KAYAK for changing your flight at the airport, or finding a hotel at the last minute. You can book online with the airline or hotel site of your choice, or you can simply press a button and your BlackBerry® will call and you can talk to a human. We even show hotels that you can’t book online; how many other travel sites do that? You can search many airline web sites at once, find the best airfares and flights for you. Then book where you want.
