Our friends over at PhoneScoop reported today that RIM has been working to update its BlackBerry app store to v2.0. The improved BlackBerry App World 2.0 will bring with it several new features.

  1. Carrier Billing: Which will allow users to purchase apps and bill them directly to their phone bills.
  2. Improved Search: The updated search feature will return more relevant and better search results.
  3. Detailed “My World” section: Will contain more information about your apps, where they are stored (device memory or storage card), and what’s been deleted.
  4. QR Code Support: This means you will be able use your BlackBerry’s camera and point, scan, and download via a barcode.

One of the nicest improvements is a service called BlackBerry ID. BlackBerry ID will let you create one master BlackBerry account that can be transferred from one BlackBerry to another, and it will also allow it to transfer your account between wireless carriers.  The idea is to help users manage their accounts more easily and transfer between devices and carriers if need be. There are not many details yet on this new service, but It appears that in the near future you will no longer need to worry about re-downloading your apps, theme, or games.
