Apple CEO Say BlackBerry 9700 Drops calls just like the iPhone 4G. RIM says Baloney!!!
Last week, Apples CEO Steve Jobs held a iPhone 4 press conference to explain to iPhone users why their expensive shiny new phone would drop calls if they held it particular way. During the press conference, Steve accused BlackBerry of having the same problem, specifically the BlackBerry 9700. Well, as you might imagine the folks at RIM didn’t take that comment too well. RIM’s Co-CEOs quickly fired back claiming that Steve Jobs’ comments were misleading and he was trying to deflect from the real issue that Apple delivered a product that they knew was substandard. Here is RIM’s leadership official response;
“Apple’s attempt to draw RIM into Apple’s self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple’s claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public’s understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple’s difficult situation. RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully designing industry-leading wireless data products with efficient and effective radio performance for over 20 years. During that time, RIM has avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4 and instead has used innovative designs which reduce the risk for dropped calls, especially in areas of lower coverage. One thing is for certain, RIM’s customers don’t need to use a case for their BlackBerry smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple.” - Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie
There have been no widespread reports of BlackBerry 9700 users claiming that if they hold their phone a certain way, they drop the call. So to quote the words of one of my favorite T.V.shows, “ This Myth Is Busted!†. So what do you think? Is your BlackBerry Bold 9700 really dropping calls like Steve Jobs says, or is he just trying to deflect from the real issue that IPhone users have to use a rubber case just to make a phone call? My BlackBerry drops calls constantly. Wait! This is my replacement BlackBerry for the last one that dropped calls constantly! Really, people? Can you make a phone that will let me make a call? Can I just make a call? I’d like to finish it, too, if you don’t mind.
Yes, I completely agree with this comment. My Blackberry 9700 drops about everything 5th phone call. This is still unacceptable. Called AT&T and the rep replaced my SIM card and then asked me, “out of 50 phone calls how many do you drop?”. I replied, “about 10″. She replied back to me, “thats about normal”. THATS ABOUT NORMAL???????? WTF.
Blackberry 9700 Sucks. Horrible Phone. I am now trying to work with AT&T for a replacement phone, but why would I want another 9700. I would like one of the andriod phones. What do you think that chances are of that actually going through and happening for me? I pay over $1000 a month to AT&T through my business and Uverse and so on. Just give me a damn smartphone that works!!!!!!!
Yep, it’s true. I googled the problem because I thought maybe I was the only one this was happening and voila! I found forums with other people having the same problem. I’ve had mine less then a week and I already hate it. I’m also constantly unable to get get online. Not cool! I had a BB 8320 before and no problems. I’m taking this one back!
yes. I have gone through 4 blackberry's with 3G and it would constantly drop
The hell? I've had my 9700 since june and haven't had one dropped call. Thr only problem it has is the facebook app chugs along if the mem card is in place, but that's FBs coding issue. I bet the people having issues here are apple fanboys in disguise defending their poorly made phone by spreading rumors about the 9700. Good job
Thia is kind of true, i dont get dropped called but if i hold my phone on the left at the bottom, my 3G signal does drop considerably!?
