Facebook For BlackBerry Updated To v1.8.0.49. Come And Get It!
Hello kids, RIM has released an update for the Facebook for BlackBerry App to v1.8.0.49. Currently many BlackBerry users use the mobile web version of Facebook to access their account since it offers better proformance. RIM is hoping the update will lure users back to the app with some feature enhancements.
Here’s what you can expect from version 1.8 (Note the absence of Facebook’s “Places†feature):
- Push Based Notifications
- Receive push notifications for the following features on the go without having to integrate an email account with your BlackBerry smartphone: Comments on Status/Links/Photos, Wall Posts,Friend Requests, Group/Event Invitations, Event Updates/Cancellations, Messages, Tags in one of your photos, Pokes (Hooray!?), Phone Requests Received/Accepted
- Friends List Performance:Â Faster loading speeds, supports up to 5000 friends.
- Photo Performance:Â Faster loading speeds and larger thumbnails than Facebook 1.7
- News Feed Performance: News Feed automatically loads additional without the need to request more
For some of  you, this update is not showing for some users in BlackBerry App World. Personally I can download the update on my BlackBerry Bold 9000, but my BlackBerry Storm is still showing v1.7.0.22. If you don’t see the new version in app world, just keep checking back over the next couple of days and it should be available for your device shortly.
