What would you do if you lost all your data on your BlackBerry? Not many of us actually know… If you are backing up your BlackBerry data using BlackBerry Desktop Manager, or using a good affordable hosted MS Exchange solution from companies like ECS Cloud Hosting, you will always have a pretty solid backup of your all your BlackBerry Data. Just keep in mind that you can’t access data backup via BlackBerry Desktop Manager without the use of another BlackBerry.

Verizon Mobile Recovery

Verizon Wireless wants to take some of the fear out of losing your BlackBerry and all its data by launching its new Mobile Recovery service. In partnership with a wireless device insurance company Asurion, Verizon hopes to bring BlackBerry and other smartphone users one of the best complete coverage programs on the market. Here is a brief look at some of their service features:

  • Sound an alarm from a misplaced phone, even if it’s set to silent
  • Locate a lost phone on a map, with turn-by-turn directions
  • Lock a lost or stolen phone to ensure your privacy
  • Remotely erase contacts from a lost or stolen phone
  • Available at no added cost with Verizon Wireless Total Equipment Coverage

One thing you should note is that the service does lock and wipe the device, but it does not backup any of its content. You will need to be currently enrolled in Total Equipment Coverage through Asurion and Verizon to use the service. Only during your first 30 days of service on a new activation or upgrade can you enroll. For more info on the new service visit https://www.mymobilerecovery.com/.
