AT&T officially releases updated BlackBerry Torch OS to V6.0.0.246. Download the latest Update!
AT&T & RIM have released an official OS software update for the BlackBerry Torch 9800. The latest OS version for the Torch 9800 is v6.0.0.246, and brings some great software enhancements. Here’s what you get in this latest update:

- Browser – faster page loading and improved panning
- User input – handled more efficiently, improved responsiveness after unlocking device
- Applications – faster launching, exiting and switching
- Home Screen – faster rendering and smoother transitions when switching between panes
- Media – faster rendering of thumbnails in picture application
- Email/Messaging – faster and smoother scrolling in message list and when reading email
- Voice- Software improvements for improved audio quality
AT&T customers will receive a notification icon on their BlackBerry Torch Home Screen which will allow them to immediately update their device wirelessly. If you don’t want to wait for the notification, you can update via the following options.
Notice: Always Backup your BlackBerry via BlackBerry Desktop Manager before doing any update.
To Do a Manual OTA Update: Go to device options > Device > Software updates. Your BlackBerry will check for the update, and you can then click “perform update”. I advise you to only use this method if you CANNOT do the update via BlackBerry Desktop Manger. If something goes wrong during the update, you could render your device useless and lose all your data.
The best way to update your device is by using the latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Manage 6; Click here to download BlackBerry Desktop Manger 6. You can also update your device via a web based version of BlackBerry Desktop Manger at www.blackberry.com/updates . If you use BlackBerry Desktop Manager and it says “no update available”, then you will need to download the OS from www.att.com/bbdownloads, run the download so that it installs on your computer, and then rerun BlackBerry Desktop Manger.
