Facebook for BlackBerry Updated to v1.9.0.20 Download the update.
RIM has officially released the best version of Facebook for BlackBerry to date. Facebook for BlackBerry v1.9.0.20 now offers BlackBerry users the ability to update Facebook Fan Pages, access to Facebook location based check-in service Facebook Places, and has increased load time by almost 50%. Version 1.9 also includes a dedicated inbox that syncs your Facebook messages, better and faster Facebook search functionality, and a redesigned navigation bar, and a much improved picture viewing capabilities.
Here are more details on the new Facebook Places service:
Facebook Places
- Check in, add a Place and tag friends
- Check in to Facebook Places within a 1.25 mile radius of your location
- Select a Place from the available Nearby Places or add a Place if location does not already exist in the Places database
- Tag a friend upon check in, and include a comment
- View Places where friends have checked in
- View Places, “Here Nowâ€, “Nearby†and “Elsewhereâ€, that friends have checked in to
- “Like†or add a comment to friends’ check ins
- Check ins will appear in the News Feeds and BB Maps Integration
- View a map of the location you’re checking in to and get directions to and from friends’ locations
Now there are a few things about this update that you should take into account. To really see some of the great speed improvements, you really should be on a 3G device. The updated version Facebook for BlackBerry will rollout over the next 24 hours so you might not see it right away but head on over to blackberry.com/facebook or its page in the BlackBerry App World to check if it’s available for you.
